Why strategy is important and what does it mean?

Strategy is a great tool of alignment and change leadership.

Over the past couple of years I’ve been working on a few key strategies, first as an executor, then as a contributor and finally as a creator. Meanwhile I read most of what I could get my hand on, learned from a dozen good strategies and interviewed a handful of strategists to capture their perspective, approach, tips and tricks.

This article is the first in a series that first talks basics, then goes into methods and ends with tech strategy, a tool that’s very much in the realm of effective CTOs, principal engineers and staff engineers.
