That's true and one should know the worth of their skills. The key technique here is to let the employer decide how much THEY value your skills and then it's up to you to decide. The basic assumption is that not every company can actually monetize your skills the same and it is better to reject a bad offer before starting the job with similar pay but less impact. Does that make sense?
