This statement might be correct “legally” speaking, but the whole story showed an aspect of NPM that people had not seen before or took for granted: that NPM is not shy to override someone’s decision to unpublish a package that they have published. Yes, people might not “own” the code they wrote but NPM certainly feels that it owns the fate of that code. “Legally” you are right, but ethically I don’t trust NPM anymore for my published code. Ethics and law are not necessarily the same thing.
